Hang Gliding and Paragliding in Humboldt County, Northern California |
MINUTES November 2004 |
November 14th, 2004
President Dave Brose made the announcement that we are an OFFICIAL club now with insurance for one site
Reminder that membership fees are $20.00
Insurance is due on March 1st ($175.00)
There was discussion about a TBluff committee / TBluff maintenance
a. Josh and Joe (?) volunteered to head the committee because they plan to teach at the site
b. We discussed the need for a TBluff waiver (should it cover non-USHGA pilots?)
c. We should consider USHGA ratings for pilots at the site as non-rated pilots may endanger the site
d. If we want to consider a landowner agreement between BLM and the club we need a waiver.
e. Be warned: Tandems and motorized flight are not covered by our insurance. Instructors?
Eventually we may want to consider building a kiosk/# system for the RC pilots
Penguin will use his website to host a site for Humboldt Wings
f. Josh W. can help build the site
g. We want the following on a site:
i. Photo gallery
ii. ID of our club
iii. Membership info
iv. Discussion board
Food for thought: Garberville airport may be a flying site (tows?).
Local fly-ins?
h. Mid-May possibly?
i. Monument and Bear River Ridge are potential sites (may be possible landowner problems)
j. Humboldt has great potential for motorized flight.
k. Should we endorse motorized flight or no?
l. Motorized flight could bring $ and pilots to the area
There have been recent injuries: be careful!
New pilots were introduced, Bob, Caleb and Don.
Respectfully submitted:
